Students' Voyage Featured in Climate Change Film
City College students Krystian Kopka and Michael DiGilio, seniors in the Grove School of Engineering and Division of Science respectively, along with Class of 2020 B.S. in Geology graduate Yoana Boleaga, are participating in a film screening and discussion Feb. 11 about their 2019 research trip to the Canadian Arctic. The film, "Frozen Obsession," documents a 2,000-mile Northwest Passage Project expedition that brought together scientists and students from multiple institutions—including the CCNY contingent and mentor Maria Tzortziou, professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences—to study the warming Arctic.
I Am CCNY: Caroline Ho, Class of 2022 Major:Architecture. I was introduced to architecture during high school and immediately fell in love with it. Given my history with mobility impairment, I have become sensitive to the intricacies of the built environment and the reality that there are some places that simply cannot be enjoyed by all people. In this modern era, with all our technological advancements and innovative thinking, I cannot accept that we live in a world where people are restricted from entering a space due to physical limitations. I want to use design to create spaces that can generate universally rich experiences without boundaries that would restrain access by any group of people. CCNY Highlights: Every day at the Spitzer School of Architecture has been an experience I could never forget. This community has a way of nurturing us to become thoughtful designers who can make a positive impact in the world. CCNY in 3 Words: Imaginative, diverse, supportive
New Scholarship Supports Science Students
City College is honored to establish the Henry Newhouse Scholarship Fund. Through the generosity of the late Ruth Sragow Newhouse, this bequest in memory of her husband, a 1959 graduate in Meteorology, will benefit generations of students studying Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at CCNY.
