Home Networks and Home Cinemas for 2021

2020 was an incredibly challenging year for us all. During these trying times we dug deep and spent a lot of time expanding our abilities to service our clients in 2021. I am proud to announce various structures that Daniel and I have put in place in 2020 to enable our clients to have better networks and WiFi in 2021.

We have streamlined our network product offering and have settled on the following equipment:

Araknis Routers. This router has a very powerful remote management portal for us to monitor and maintain our network.
UniFi network switches and WiFi antennas. Daniel has spent a tremendous amount of time and energy setting up a UniFi cloud server so that we can remotely monitor, firmware update, power cycle and service all UniFi network switches and WiFi antennas.
Between these 2 products, we have been able to reduce the amount of on-site service for our networks by over 95%.

During 2020 we were incredibly fortunate that many of our suppliers switched over to online training in a very impactful way. With this change, Daniel was able to attend Control4 training and I am proud to announce that Mirror Edge Networks is now Control4 certified.



I am very proud of Daniel having completed the Control4 training in November 2020 and qualifying as the first person in South Africa to have ever achieved 100% for the final Control4 exam.
We are very honoured that since then we have installed our first Control4 system and have taken over 2 Control4 systems for new clients. 
Control4 is a fantastic product for home Audio/Video Control and Home Automation and we are very excited to be working with it.



I have been incredibly humbled by the amazing support that Daniel and I received during 2020 and we are extremely appreciative of the continued business that we are currently experiencing in the start of 2021. We have had recently completed 2 whole house Sonos installations, with 3 more scheduled to take place in the next month. Sonos is an incredible whole house music system that we have had continued success with their new product offering since launch in April 2020 (Sonos ARC, ONE SL, AMP and Move)

To wrap up this quick email, I would like to speak a little bit about home cinemas.
I am a massive fan of home cinemas, I have been very fortunate to build 6 high quality dedicated home cinemas across the greater Cape Town area, as well as consulting on over 15 cinemas over the past 8 years.
Home cinemas have a fairly special place right now... It is not wise to watch a movie at Ste-Kinekor or Nu Metro. So the next best option will be to watch the next James Bond movie at home. (or whichever blockbuster film you are looking forward to).
Home Cinema technology has progressed rapidly over the past 5 years and if designed well, we can build a home cinema I can guarantee you will never want to watch a movie anywhere else.
