Mass COVID-19 vaccine clinic
Last week was a busy one for service with a clinic at the Walla Walla University Church on Jan. 18 and at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds on Jan. 23. More than 150 volunteers helped support the Walla Walla Department of Community Health and Providence St. Mary Medical Center to pull off the mass vaccine clinics that served approximately 2,000 people.
Seeing everyone work together was a beautiful display of community. Kari Firestone, COVID-19 response director and associate dean of the School of Nursing at Walla Walla University, was kept busy filling syringes with a team while community volunteers and Walla Walla University professors, staff, and students alike helped with traffic control, registration, mobility, and more.
Patients arrived early and full of emotion, leaving with disbelief of how easy the process was thanks to the many volunteers.
If you would like to participate as a volunteer in the next round of clinics, please respond to this email. Clinic dates have not yet been set because Walla Walla Department of Community Health vaccine allocation hasn’t been announced yet. Stay tuned as it could be as early as next week!
Many Thanks,
E. David Lopez
