Information about BRAC Reading Room
YES! The Reading Room is open to the public every Wednesday and Thursday. Researchers can attend any AM or PM session by booking directly with us, and view records ordered through the PROV catalogue. There will be a number of protocols and limitations for the time being - you can read about those HERE.

Only two months of twelve down, it's not too late to DOWNLOAD print off a copy of PROV's 2021 calendar, showcasing beautiful images from all parts of the collection. Bendigo is June's pin up with a petition from Bendigo Chinese storekeepers and miners used as the feature photo.
Discovering History: Tonight!
The next of the La Trobe-BRAC-Library lecture series is on tonight - both in person and online. Visit or tune in to hear about homes and housewifery on the Goldfields from Katrina Dernelley from La Trobe university. Bookings are essential for both formats - book HERE.
International Women's Day 2021
A reminder that our 2020 exhibition - Locating the Women of Bendigo - can still be accessed on our website. The display features images from our collection as we explored the some lesser known histories in our community across three centuries with the aim of inspiring more research on some fascinating lives using our collection. Who was the African-American giantess who awed the Town Hall? Which doctor headed an Oxford Research Hospital? Find out HERE!
Sunraysia Institute of TAFE
Collection Focus: Sunraysia TAFE Board
BRAC holds several record sets from Sunraysia TAFE, including VPRS 18115, papers from committee & working parties of the Board & Council. the 58 boxes of records cover the years from 1974 to 2009 and contain information for planning of sites, for audits, for special projects and much, much more which can all be ordered to the Bendigo Reading Room via PROV's catalogue.
Bendigo Queer History Exhibition
The upstairs display cases will feature some amazing artifacts and stories from March 1 - 28, including research undertaken using PROV and BRAC resources. Read PROV's piece outlining the exhibition and the research behind it HERE.

A reminder that applications to for the 2021 round of Local History Grants funding closes on TUE 9 MARCH - find out about the program HERE.
2020 Provenance Journal
Provence is PROV's journal featuring peer-reviewed and general research article, and this edition includes seven fascinating articles developed using primary records from the collection. One piece, by John Burch, Parish plans as a source of evidence of Aboriginal land use in the Mallee back country looks closely at a large part of BRAC's catchment area.
