The Old Testament standard was the tithe: 10% of what comes into the house of a follower of God each month belonged to the Lord. The Law also required were offerings above that tithe. The New Testament standard for giving is generosity.
2 Corinthians 8:2-3 TPT describes the New Testament believer this way, “For even during a season of severe difficulty and tremendous suffering, they became even more filled with joy. From the depths of their extreme poverty, super-abundant joy overflowed into an act of extreme generosity. For I can verify that they spontaneously gave, not only according to their means but far beyond what they could afford.” This is the heart of a follower of God!
Luke 6:38 TPT says, “Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! Your measurement of generosity becomes the measurement of your return!”
We are to give in to the storehouse God has placed us in just like this. We need to grow our storehouse for the multiplied ways God is calling us to impact our city, nation, and the nations. Thank you for being generous!
