Wellbeing news for clergy

The Weight of this Calling: Clergy burnout, well-being, and resilience
Thursday 21 January, 5pm - 7pm GMT

Is ministry burnout inevitable? Can self-sacrificial living ever be viable? Or, do clergy, in fact, have it better than most when it comes to work-life balance?

In this webinar we'll explore what it means to build resilience as a member of the clergy.

Our expert panel will look at what the Church is doing to support clergy, how parishes can help, and what needs to change. This Church Times webinar will focus specifically on clergy well-being, however anyone, lay or ordained, is welcome to attend.

Tickets are £10, or £5 for Church Times subscribers. Book here

All of the resources for the five sessions are currently being finalised and, it is hoped, will be made available from 25th January. Download and print off the Introductory leaflet here

Safeguarding - changes to DBS filtering

From 28thNovember 2020 filtering rules for Standard and Enhanced DBS Checks have changed. This is because The Supreme Court judged that some elements of the filtering rules were disproportionate. As a result, legislation has been changed and from 28th November 2020, Standard and Enhanced DBS certificates will disclose criminal records according to the new legislation.
This means DBS will no longer disclose youth reprimands, youth warnings, or youth cautions. The DBS will also no longer disclose all convictions where somebody has more than one conviction. Instead, each individual conviction will be assessed against the other rules.
The changes to filtering rules will be applied at the end of the DBS processing stages. If a certificate is created before 28thNovember 2020 then the previous filtering rules will apply. If a certificate is created after this date, then the new filtering rules will apply.  Links to this new guidance has been updated in our Recruiters Guides and, on our website, the full new guidance can be found
