Hello Beloved Friends,

Here in Boulder, winter days are punctuated by flocks of pond-hopping geese calling to each other as they traverse the sky in a grand flying V. I love watching them pass overhead and I’m continually inspired by how they move as one, how they work together, how they look after each other. I’ve learned that each bird flies slightly above the bird in front of him, reducing the wind resistance and creating lift for the birds that follow, allowing them to glide more often and conserve their energy. They also take turns being in the front, falling back when they get tired, changing positions with fluidity and grace, enabling the entire flock to fly further. Hmm…

It seems to me that humanity could stand to learn a thing or two from the birds.

A River Of Birds

This powerful chant, A River Of Birds by Libana, is one of my favorites. I love the imagery of women spreading their wings, rising together and taking flight, moving as one to bring something better to the world; something more loving, kind and compassionate. This music video is my interpretation, woven with love and a vision of beautiful things to come. You can listen and watch by clicking the image below…
A River Of Birds was recorded in my closet, the best spot in my house to record! I filmed the video up on Flagstaff Mountain with my iPhone, a tripod and a Zhiyun gimbal over the course of two sunny afternoons in December. I got lucky with the sunset!

It seems I’ve spent the majority of my life learning to fly. It's taken time to gain the confidence and the belief in self, and years and years of practice. I feel I might actually be making some headway now. I can feel the strength building in my wings, and a strong sense of determination in my heart. I also hear clearly the call to rise, to join the current of those who are bringing beauty and balance to the world.

I wonder if it is possible that as each of us rises we create an updraft, making it easier for others to be lifted as well. If so, then if more and more of us take flight, perhaps we can lift countless others along. Hmm...
It is good work, this stretching the wings, this learning to fly. May we all rise together!

Thank you for reading, and for your continued friendship and support. If you know someone who might enjoy this email, please feel free to pass it on. And, as always, if you feel compelled to respond and share with me how you are stretching your wings and taking flight, I'd love to hear about it!

With Gratitude,
