Call for case study partners: Student-centered learning during Covid-19

Education Evolving is launching a year-long research blog series to better understand the power and potential of student-centered learning during Covid-19 and beyond.

Now more than ever, the student-centered learning approaches at the foundation of teacher-powered schools are needed to enable students to learn at their own pace and place, according to plans personalized to their needs.

We are looking for public school and district partners—willing to share their stories, lessons learned, and evidence of what works—that meet three criteria:
  • Are using personalized, student-centered learning to serve students during the pandemic.
  • Hold a commitment to educational equity and the belief that Covid-19 presents a unique—if incredibly challenging—opportunity to reimagine learning for students who were denied success in traditional school environments.
  • Have a culture of collecting evidence and using data, including on academic achievement, engagement, but also (and especially) other measures important to your community.

Participant schools and districts will be given a $500 stipend as a token of appreciation. We estimate 8 to 12 total hours of time asked of you and your team.

New year, new Learning Collaboratives! Our winter/spring cohorts kick off next month, running through June.

Learning Collaboratives are designed to build relationships between teacher-powered educators—to strengthen your practices at your own sites, inspire you to try new ideas, and share challenges and successes unique to the teacher-powered model.

Cost is $50 for the semester. A new round of fall cohorts will also run August–December.

We love this teacher-powered network because it reminds us we’re not alone and that there’s so much to be gained from one another. But our inventory is incomplete.

Whether it’s a new teacher-powered school or one that doesn’t know they’re teacher-powered even though they are—whatever the case, we want to bring them into the fold. Not just so they can learn from us. We want to learn from them.
