Corpsmembers Made Impressive Impacts in 2020
Last year, corpsmembers restored (or otherwise improved) over 145 acres throughout Marin and Sonoma counties. Crews also reduced fire fuels on 406 acres of public and private land through various partnerships with local agencies like the City of Novato, the Sonoma County Resource Conservation District, and Marin County Parks.

After the world turned upside down in mid-March, our corpsmembers took on a new role in response to COVID-19. In the short period of April, May, and June, Zero Waste crews helped more than 15,000 residents of Marin County access food from local food banks.
Our corpsmembers also removed more than 27,500 pounds of litter from public lands last year, mainly in partnership with Caltrans at various locations along Highway 101.

Our Zero Waste team collected 4,600 used mattresses and 10,500 waste tires for recycling in 2020. That is at least 360 TONS of material kept out of our landfills between those two alone! This team consistently out-performs the goals they set for themselves and lead corps across the state in numbers in almost every category, even after accounting for the impacts of the pandemic.

We could not be prouder of our corpsmembers and staff who do this hard work and we cannot wait to share what we have in store for 2021 with you soon!

Zoom Open House with our Advisory Council

CCNB has always been able to thrive when it comes to doing important work, but our staff and corpsmembers have been especially resilient over the last year. Earlier this month it was so exciting to be able to gather with our Advisory Council to allow our CEO, Directors, and Managers to highlight all the ways in which we have grown as an organization, expanded services for corpsmembers and communities, and adapted to everything the pandemic and its effects have thrown our way.

The CCNB Board and leadership team covered our improved mission statement, updates on our capital improvements, and our progress on diversity and equity initiatives before handing it off to our Natural Resources, Zero Waste, and Career Pathways Program Managers to talk more specifically about projects, corpsmembers, and programs.

Corpsmembers Omar and Jazmin shared their experiences with the Advisory Council and were met with encouragement and praise all around. The Advisory Council members in attendance asked great questions and look forward to amplifying the impact our corpsmembers make in our community every single day.
