What has been happening in the classroom?

This week in Puffins we have been reading the book 'a piece of cake' by Jill Murphy. We have all enjoyed decorating/baking our own cakes and eating them of course! We have made a healthy fruit salad and used these experiences to write some lists and sentences. In Maths we have been thinking about the composition of number 4 and 5, there has been some super learning in school and at home with this. We have been working hard on our phonics and handwriting too.
Well done to all Puffins at home and school for always being enthusiastic about your learning, it is great to see either in person or via video link. Have a super weekend Puffins and Puffin parents you all deserve it!

This week I have been impressed (but not surprised because they are amazing!) at the learning that has happened in Year 2. On Monday the children planned a story that they were going to write, and each day have written part of that story in our daily live lessons. The perseverance and creativity they have shown has been fantastic. Some children have even managed to write a story while spending some days at school and some days at home - the writing is seamless! Well done children (and parents!) and I very proud of you all. It is lovely to see so many of you each afternoon in our daily zoom lessons. Keep sharing your art, geography, science and PSHE tasks on google classroom so we can see what you have been up to.

Hello Kingfisher Class!
Thank-you for all your hard work this week! We have grappled with some technical challenges in our live lessons, but you have been patient and positive throughout, and Mrs Cunliffe and I have loved seeing you every day.

We have now finished our English unit on the poem Winter by Abbie Baker, and you have written some AMAZING winter poems of your own. You have worked hard to write poems with a structure; making careful, descriptive word choices that create wonderful wintry images in our minds.

In maths, we have tried something different this week. Taking a break from White Rose Maths, you have worked through a range of different maths activities designed to deepen your addition and subtraction skills.

In the afternoons, we have enjoyed seeing many of you in our live lessons and sharing our learning together.

Well done Kingfishers, I hope you can enjoy a well-deserved weekend off!
Mrs Burgess.

This has been a fantastic week in Owl's Class, it is lovely to see you all ready to start work each morning. Sorry you sometimes have to wait for me to sort out the lunches.

I have seen some wonderful work this week, I have enjoyed reading your diary entries and looking at your landscape collages, which have been fantastic - I was able to recognise the local landmarks and features. Thank you to all the children and Mrs Waddington who helped with my mapping lesson on Tuesday lesson. I am having a week off next week, as we have a presenter who knows a lot more about birds than I do.
He will be starting off Bird watch week on Monday at 2pm. I have provided some resources for your Google classroom which I hope you will enjoy working on during the week.

Don't forget to complete all you Sumdog questions before next Thursday, when the competition ends.

Have a good weekend

See you all on Monday.
