President's Message

Dear <<First Name>>

Welcome back for season 2021 to existing members and a special welcome to new members of our club. With a synthetic pitch installation on Norman Griffiths Oval scheduled to commence in August this year, it promises to be the most exciting season for the club to date.

We are encouraging 2020 members to re-register for this coming season and also will be strongly promoting new players joining the club, particularly junior players. As part of our focus on recruiting more female players, the Club Committee have agreed an incentive programme for junior girls which gives free shorts and socks to new junior female players who have previously not played for the club. Continuing WPFC players referring new female players will receive a $25 voucher to our Online Store.

A big thank you to all of our volunteers including coaches, managers, coordinators and committee members, many of whom have already been working tirelessly to get our season up and running. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community club so please consider helping out in some way when the opportunity presents itself this season.

We hope that all members of the club are able to enjoy their football this season. Participation, enjoyment and having fun through football remains our focus!

Here are some updates and events happening around the club:
Regards,
Kevin Johnson
President WPFC

Winning with Richard Bonouvrie

Before a ball was kicked for the season, the club was off to a winning start with a new sponsor partnership with Richard Bonouvrie from McGrath Estate Agents.

West Pymble Football Club are thrilled to introduce a new club sponsor, local real estate agent - Richard Bonouvrie. When he's not selling houses, you'll find him having a kick at the park with his wife Phoebe and their energetic toddler, George.

A 15 year veteran of the real estate industry, the last 10 of which have been with McGrath, Richard specialises in selling properties on the upper North Shore.

We asked Richard what the North Shore market is like as of January 2021, and he said:

"With COVID popping back up in Sydney we weren't sure how the start of the year would go, but it's actually off to a very strong start. Record low interest rates, and high levels of buyer confidence Has seen a lot of strong buyer demand for properties in the area. I'd also say people spending more time at home last year had them daydreaming about making a change!"

If you're thinking of selling now or any time in the future, Richard would be happy to have a casual, 100% obligation free chat with you about your property and the current market conditions.

Shout Outs!

The season is heating up nicely. Forget Bunnings, folks...Norman Griffiths Oval is the hot new locale to grab some weekend snagalicious snags on game days.

Our sincerest thanks to Mar Tristán Vega for the kind donation of a gas 4-burner hot plate BBQ, to replace our previous model 'formerly known as a 4-burner'.

Mar has also nominated her husband (though we're not sure he knows...yet) to be the head BBQer on Women's O35 game days. We're sure it will be just as competitive around the BBQ, as it will be on the field.

And in a first (well, at least for 2021), we are thrilled to give a double shout out and three more cheers to Mar for her continually stellar work in the development of a new set of registration banners for the club, club promotional content for our Facebook page, and fliers for our information days. These are all bright, clear, informative, and draw the attention of the eye with our striking gold and blue colours.

But wait, there's more! Steak knives for the BBQ? No, better than that. Mar has also dedicated many hours to make many top notch action photos of various games played by our teams. You have no doubt seen some of her work on the content she has produced, and across posts on our Facebook page.

But that's not all you get...Mar is also a member of our wonderful Women's Over 35 A team, also known as The Minions. Be sure to come along one Sunday to NG Oval when the Over 35 A team is playing to watch the game, support the team, grab a snag, and give a cheer or three to Mar!

THANK YOU!

An additional Shout Out! to Shan at Snap Printing Solutions at Gordon (Shop 1, 3 Fitzsimons Lane). He did a most fantastic job with the beautiful quality flyers and posters printed for our club promotions, and for our recent Information Day at the West Pymble Mall. Further to this, Shan provided a discounted price on their service, for which we are grateful for.

Club Trivia

In 2006, the West Pymble Soccer Club (as it was known then), introduced a Special Needs program to the club. This program was conceived by Paul Phelan, who continues heading up the program. Paul has been well supported by Will Soulsby, for many years.

This intent was to go beyond traditional competitive football games to offer children who could not participate in the structured programs, the chance to get involved in sport. It was initially aimed at children with autistic spectrum disorder and down syndrome aged between 5 and 8 years. At the time, there were very few special needs football programs in Sydney, therefore children travelled from wider Sydney, to play at our club.

Such has been the popularity and success of the this program and the incredible work by Paul and Will, that the club now caters both junior and senior teams from ages 5 through 21.

The program has resulted in many children and young adults over the years having a great time, learning and developing a love for football, and more importantly having fun with their friends. We are thrilled that the program continues strongly into its 16th season in 2021.
