*NEW* Contest and Entry Deadlines!

Many students around the state are wrapping up their first semester as we hit the halfway point of the 2020-21 school year. And what a year it has been! We hope student filmmakers are finding creative ways to get projects done and can’t wait to see them at festival judging! Judging will take place online this year in May and we are always looking for volunteers. Learn more and sign up on the DAFT website.

We continue to adapt to the ever-changing COVID landscape, and have shifted some important dates for this year’s festival, which will be streamed live May 25-26, 2021.

In order to give students maximum time to complete their films during this COVID-era of production, we are pushing our entry deadline for the 53rd Michigan Student Film Festival back to April 30. We hope this will allow students more time to work on their entries or create some more!

The rules and procedures for entering remain the same, so check it all out on our Film Freeway page and submit your films through April 30!

We’re also kicking back the deadline for our annual poster design competition for our festival promotional materials. Students now have until March 31 to submit their designs. Remember that the winning design takes home a $200 cash prize! You can check out all of the details on the DAFT website.

Our bulk festival entry vouchers are still available. We strongly encourage everyone to enter their work this year, even if it doesn’t meet standards of quality you’ve set for yourself in the past. We’re coming up with some exciting new categories to meet this year’s unique needs—stay tuned!
