I hope your New Year has started off with a bang! Fireworks, new hope, excitement, positive intentions and more!
Here's encouragement and actions to explore:
During the 2021 business planning day with my business mentor, among other things we looked at what really worked for me last year. By identifying the actions that brought satisfying results I can repeat them this year. For even more success - double or triple activity in those key areas.
This is actually scientifically sound. The Pareto principle states that for many outcomes roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of the causes. Other names for this principle are the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity. Whew, sigh of relief, right? You already know what is working for you, just repeat it more vigorously. Then, when inspired, try new things. This creates ease and creativity in business and life.
My parents were intellectually curious, avid learners. My Dad sold insurance to farmers for a few years, which required him to travel all over Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. In his hotel room, each night he read voraciously. Each week he finished 6 or 7 books! My Mom was a scholar too. She had a Master’s Degree and was writing her Ph.D. dissertation when she passed away from cancer. She had over 1000 books in her library. The gift of growing up in this stimulating environment is that I am always studying – usually multiple things, in business, health and the arts.
I had a lovey Birthday January 18. Maybe it is my Capricorn tenacity, but I am consistent over the long haul, often with short term fluctuations. I studied singing for 12 years, as well as many instruments, healing arts, comedy and InterPlay improv for many years each. I want to give props to my business mentor, multi-millionaire business owner Fabienne Fredrickson, with whom I have been working 8 years and I just signed another 2-year contract. I also have a music business mentor, a life coach, a Linked In coach, a keynote speeches coach, an EFT tapping therapist, and a bunch of support pals and accountability buddies. I wrote about all this support in my chpter "Three Kinds of Communities that Strengthen You" in Thriving Beyond the Storm: Practical Advice for Small Business Owners from Small Business Owners, Volume 2. . I find that when working with coaches over the long term, II begin to fully integrate the principles and skills that previously eluded me for so long. I can finally see where I was blocked. I begin to know the concepts so well, blended with my experiences, mistakes, and successes, I can create my own system and methods that I can teach others. (When you have integrated it and lived it, you can teach it!)
By hanging in there through challenges, over time massive results happen for me. I have put in the hours to have mastery. In a society that loves immediacy, many years of mentorship can seem daunting. Yet, all pro athletes have coaches their entire lives, from childhood through a famous, lucrative career. I feel if someone can teach me what I want to learn, who has already mastered it, I am with them for the long term. Some of my singing clients (active and aspiring professionals) loved working together for several years. I have worked with many clients and some for 5, 7 and 9 years. Each gained impressive results, strength, flexibility, joy from personal and professional successes. Plus, We had fun together!
One of the tasks I was given this fall was to listen on You Tube to Brian Scott’s: "Large Sums of Money" (the 30-minute meditation) – twice a day! It was fascinating to observe myself resistant, non-accepting, and excited at other times. I started to see more of my limiting beliefs. The positive was replacing the negative in my sub-conscious.
I listened to Scott’s "Giving and Receiving" mediation to answer my doubts about the spiritual wisdom of wealth acquisition. (We all have ‘our stuff’ around money!) I got excited about tithing more, that I’d be working for it, and “for the highest good of all.” The excitement and passion was important. Feelings apparently are essential for a goal to manifest quickly. Within six weeks of listening, I had my largest month ever in 27 years of business. If you serve more people, and give excellent value to them, you are equally compensated. This allows me to tithe more!
It was interesting to watch the negativity and fear come back at the beginning of the next month. I watched it and worked through it. Previously I have had stellar months due to mindset and affirmations but promptly stopped doing them (aa form of resistance and sabotage.) Consistency and repetition is key. I recommend this mediation to all self-employed, business owners, sales people and anyone seeking a job, promotion or abundance. It is working well for many people. Let me know how it goes!
