Hello travellers,

I'm crossing my fingers that we Sydney-siders might be able to travel interstate without quarantine come the end of January.

Borders opening and a new president

Borders are opening, even if not for the greater Sydney area, at the moment.

Sensible people have re-taken the White House. Doesn't normality, rather than the narcissistic impulses of an irritating baby feel better, America?

On the other hand with over 400,000 deaths due to COVID-19 the USA has quite a challenge to meet.

Jayne Hrdlicka CEO & GM of Virgin Australia and an unnamed Virgin employee

What happened last week?

Emirates confirmed that it will re-start flying to Australia next week, Virgin Australia restructured its executive team, and the government announced 20 more repatriation flights.

Virgin Australia offered some giveaway Velocity points and we got a firm indication that Australian borders aren't opening to international passengers any time this year - bar the possibility of some 'corridors'.

The USA foreshadowed a testing and quarantine regime for international arrivals, but not government controlled as in Australia.

The White House

What's coming up?

Indications are that more state border restrictions will be relaxed. If that happens, I might be on a flight late in the week.

Rejoice that the leader of the free world is an adult, and that the vice president is female.

All I can say,is lets keep this country COVID-19 free, so get tested at the slightest symptoms (I did this week), keep your social distance, and for everyone's sake put that mask back on!

Stephen
