FOCUS: On Water Safety

We continue our focus on safety this month. Water temperatures in our waterway average 39 degrees Fahrenheit in January and February. What would you do if you flipped? Our Captains, Kelly and Megan, suggest you consider rowing in Bays and other more stable boats, bring your phone, life jacket and row with a buddy, when you aren't in a coached program.

Avoid dangerous situations and learn more about water rescue, steering, etc by clicking on USRowing and LWRC online safety resources.

Do you row in the dark?  In addition to boat lights, it doesn't hurt to light up your upper body. Put a light on your hat, wear reflective clothing and purchase something that lights up the night. Click here to check out the LED vest  pictured below!

Continue to Follow All Covid Guidelines
in the Gym and at the Boathouse

At the Boathouse: Keep 6 feet apart, wear a mask, sanitize your hands, sanitize oar handles, don't congregate inside.

On the Water: Members have permission to row in singles. You can also row in doubles or pairs with same householders or quarantine partners. We strongly encourage you to row only with one other person, if you row in doubles or pairs. We are not cleared for team rowing or multiple partner rowing at this time
.
Review Covid Guidelines

In the Gym: According to state guidelines, we are able to open the upstairs gym on a limited basis.  Three stations total, in the Main Gym and the HNA space, will be available for use. The rules have changed a little bit as compared to the last time the gym was available so please be sure to review and adhere to all of the rules below:
What Stays the Same?
  • You must reserve a timeslot, during peak hours, for any of the lifting stations or space on the deck through the Appointments Tab in MindBody
  • Please sign in and sanitize your hands upon entry
  • You must wear a mask at all times indoors
  • Turn on the 2 air filters in the main gym and HNA space.
  • Do not turn on heat or air conditioning. Open the windows
  • The deck continues to be open for lifting (one station), erging and biking.  Use of the Ergs and bikes can ONLY be done on the deck at this time.  Spacing requirements remain the same at 6 feet apart.
  • After completing your workout, you must wipe down all of the equipment used for the next person
What is Changing in this Phase?
  • Indoor gym workouts are limited to 45 minutes and you must have a reservation during peak hours (5-8 AM)
  • State guidelines require that anyone working out indoors must workout with a mask on
  • Spacing between stations has increased to 500 square feet.  This means only 1 person can workout in the HNA room and 2 people can workout in the main gym at a time.
  • If you have any questions about the new guidelines please reach out to the Captains at Captain@lakewashingtonrowing.com
