Pleasanton Commits $100,000 as City Match for
Alameda County CARES Grant Program

The City partnered with Alameda County and other Alameda County cities in providing financial assistance to businesses as part of the Alameda County CARES Grant Program. In November, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors established the grant program by redirecting $5 million in CARES Act funds in response to the economic, health and safety impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, which closed in late November, provided eligible businesses a one-time grant of $5,000.

Up to $3 million in additional funding was authorized as matching funds for cities in Alameda County to expand the available pool of funds in participating cities. The City of Pleasanton committed $100,000 toward the city match pool, guaranteeing a minimum $200,000 for Pleasanton businesses. Since the number of grant applications submitted exceeded available funding levels, grants were awarded by lottery. One hundred ten (110) Pleasanton businesses were awarded grants, representing a total of $550,000 of financial assistance.
