Hey <<First Name>>,

I posted a question on LinkedIn, "I keep hearing people say ‘I've gotta get my client welcome packet together.’ What exactly is that?” Responses included: instructions on how to markup a PDF, notes about what may cause a price increase, how to send files, the best way to get in touch, etc.

Some designers who do this with gigantic documents with pages and pages (and pages). Rules, rules, and rules. There’s a time and place for everything, and your “welcome packet” may not be very welcoming.

Imagine you are the client on the other side of this? You’ve just signed on to work with someone, and now they’re sending you a giant document full of restrictions and attempts to define every detail. Yikes.

I believe the onboarding process really can be welcoming. Get the contract signed, get the payment, and get moving. You can outline the most important things, but not make them a hindrance.

ICYMI, check out my Client Onboarding Toolkit: a simple, 4-step digital course that helps you create your own, simple intake process that starts the project right. Organized, in-the-know, relaxed and welcoming :)

Cheers!
