This month's memory verse
John 5:24, ESV

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

Read through the Bible this year:

  • Exodus 1-3; Gal 5
  • Exodus 4-6; Gal 6
  • Exodus 7-9; Psalm 105; Ephesians 1
  • Exodus 10-12; Eph 2
  • Exodus 13-15; Psalm 114; Eph 3
This week's focus passage is

Phillipians 2:13; Ephesians 2:10;
Colossians 2:6

Please take some time every day to read our focus passage.
A note from Jon.

Follow the Manufacturer’s Instructions

But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.  And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” --Matthew 22:34-40

We were created with different talents and abilities. Some people are physically strong and athletic, while others may be intellectually strong. We often set goals and benchmarks to achieve success in our desired areas of skill. We can get so consumed with ambition to be the best in our field that we forget the fact that we were created to love the Lord and love others.

The last few months have been the most challenging time in my life so far. The amputation of my lower left leg in August and then the amputation of my right middle finger in early January have greatly impacted my ability to do many things I was once able to do. The enemy wants me to be discouraged, to even give up. When I pick up a can opener, I know what it was made to do—open cans. Even if that can opener gets scratched or chipped or damaged in some way, as long as it opens cans, it still fulfills the manufacturer’s purpose. I have to remember that I’m no different. My purpose is not to stand or walk, or to open jars with ease (all things I struggle to do now). The Lord made me to love.

I encourage you to never let life’s challenges or obstacles to keep you from loving the one who created and commanded you to love.

Jon

Last year, summer camp was canceled, #SadFaceEmoji. However, Fuge Camps has decided that they would continue camps this summer. Therefore, on July 21-26th the student ministry will be traveling to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee for Fuge Camps 2021.

If we have learned any new activity from 2020, it was that masks and social distancing are crucial tools to any public situation. Therefore, what better way to use our new “favorite” activities to help our students attend camp. On Sunday, February 28 from 4:30-6:30p, the student ministry will be hosting a perfect fundraiser with masks and social distancing in mind. We will be hosting a SILENT AUCTION. 100% of the funds raised from this Silent Auction will go towards the students going to camp.

These fundraisers are critical for many students to attend camp. Because otherwise they would not be able to attend. Therefore, it is my hope that we can help these students. We use this time during the summer to strengthen, motivate, and grow our student’s faith. These are moments that God has used in the past to draw students to Himself. These moments are some of the most precious that I look back on. It is my hope that we can send our students to camp with little to no expense. So, I hope that you can join us for this very special SILENT AUCTION on February 28th from 4:30-6:30p.
