February 2021



We're starting 2021 off with some exciting news: the library is now fine free!  We will no longer charge overdue fines for Platteville Public Library materials. This change will help everyone have access to library materials and services.Thanks to the hard work of our circulation department, existing overdue fines on library accounts have also been waived. Our Current Services
As COVID numbers in our community continue to fluctuate, we will be adjusting our in-person services accordingly to serve your needs and ensure the health and safety of our patrons and staff. Check our website and Facebook page for our most up-to-date hours.
Survey
We want to hear from you! Please take a moment to fill out our library programming survey by February 15. Your feedback will help us plan programs and services during the pandemic and beyond. The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and, upon completion, you can enter to win a $25 Platteville Regional Chamber gift card!
 

Adult Grab & Go Kits
Combat cabin fever by trying a new project. Kits change each week and are available at curbside pickup on a first come, first serve basis. February kits include woven decorations, cards for a friend, and bird feeders.
Basics of Birdwatching

Join us on Zoom to learn about choosing the right birdwatching equipment and guides, identification techniques, and how individuals can get involved in conservation, protection, and Citizen Science monitoring projects. Presented by Grace Milanowski, Lead Coordinator of the Platteville Community Arboretum.

Virtual Adult Book Club

Our February book club will meet on Zoom. In February, we will be discussing The Lager Queen of Minnesota by J. Ryan Stradal. For information on how to join the Zoom discussion, please email Kelli at kmiller@plattevillepubliclibrary.org. No registration is required.
Masquerade Murder Mystery 
Saturday February 20

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
There’s been a murder at the library! Put on your detective hat, join us on Zoom to interview our six suspects, and see if you can figure out whodunnit. Register with an email address to receive a Zoom link for the event. You can sign up individually or in groups.

Storytime Online
Mondays and Thursdays
starting January 3

10 am · Ages 0-6
Join us for a new story every Monday and Thursday on the Platteville Public Library Facebook page. 
No registration required.
Infant & Toddler Storytime
Wednesdays at 10am
February 3- April 21

Ages birth to 3
Join us for online storytime featuring songs, rhymes and stories! The story times will be available to view on the Platteville Public Library Facebook page. 
Registration not required - but families are encouraged to pick up a story time packet.

 
Teen Murder Mystery Escape Room
February 14 @ 6pm

Ages 12-17
You and your friends are amateur detectives attending a party when there is a murder! Can you solve the crime and escape the mansion? Click here to register and find out! A Zoom link will be provided with your registration.

Tax forms are at the library! We have Federal 1040/1040-SR forms and instructions, Wisconsin 1 forms and instructions, and Homestead credit booklets (including rent certificates, homestead credit forms, and instructions).

If your 2020 adjusted gross income was $72,000 or less, you may be able to use the Free File program to do your taxes online for no charge. Visit IRS Free File Online Options to learn more.
