A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I read

Hull Hath No Fury Like A Poet Scorned by Dean Wilson

A tale I heard

Actor Whoopi Goldberg on having a sense of self:

"My mom instilled that in me. Her thing was: You can run with the crowd — which is fine; lots of people do — but if you’re someone who thinks outside of where other people want you to think, you might have some trouble. Because not everybody is going to get it. Not everybody is going to like it. And you have to be prepared to be alone. If you’re okay with all of that, then you can have the life that you want."

A tale I wrote

I can see a herd of giraffes
dotted throughout my flat.
They live on jumpers and trousers
and in photo frames

on dusty plain shelves.
They live in the form
of rubber chew toys
and water proof nappy covers.
Each one is smaller than I was
the first time someone said
I bet your favourite animal is a giraffe.
Embarrassment gave birth
to a hearty fake laugh,
from my surprisingly thin ankles
to my daft tuft of a head.
