VIRTUAL DINNER & DIALOGUE: What is Freedom?

Thursday Feb 4 @ 7 – 8:30 pm

UVM Interfaith Center (via Zoom)  RSVP Here

In the midst of a pandemic, political elections, and social upheaval, we are being challenged to examine what it means to live as a civil society. In this annual, six-part series, this year we are exploring how each of us understands and prioritizes freedom from our own religious and/or philosophical perspectives by discussing one of the five basic freedoms found in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Our February session will focus on the freedom of the Press. RSVP here and we'll send you the link for the meeting! Sponsored by the Revolutionary Love Project, Dream Corps, and others.

Winter ActivitiesFest!
February 8th - 12th

To provide a safe experience for our community, this year’s Winter ActivitiesFest will span multiple days to reduce crowding and congregating. Walk through the large outdoor tent on the Davis Center green (between the Howe Library and Davis Center), and meet students leaders from a number of student groups. Different clubs available on each day – check back for more details about the clubs that will be present on each day.

This event is also available virtually for students who are attending the semester remotely or who are uncomfortable with attending in-person – all you need to do is sign onto UVM Club (clubs.uvm.edu) between 11AM – 2PM (EDT) and connect with the groups who are participating that day virtually!

Don’t forget to bring your mask and observe social distancing policies!

Contact Student Life (studentlife@uvm.edu) for questions and accommodations.

Self and Community Care

Do you want to get more intentional about your self-care? This workshop challenges the notion of a one-size fits all version of self-care and uplifts the importance of community/collective-care, even virtually. Through discussion, reflective writing and embodied practices we will explore what radical self-care is for you and what supports a thriving community for all.

This is a HYBRID event taking place in-person and virtually. Students quarantining on campus can access the in-person program in the hotel ballroom. Students accessing remotely can do so on Microsoft Teams

MCSC logo
Dear community, friends and colleagues,

The Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) is honored to facilitate our mission to serve you, our broad, diverse and complex community of color here at The University of Vermont (UVM).  Our communication mechanisms, including The Scoop, social media, posters and flyers in and around the Center, etc,  share information about the broadest possible range of University sanctioned information and offerings that might appeal to individuals and/or groups that are a part of our community.

We understand that there might be divergent needs and opinions about items that might be publicized and we hope that there will be, at a minimum, tolerance for our different perspectives and necessities.  The staff of the MCSC does not necessarily support the views of every item that might be shared through our outlets but, as long as said programs/events are UVM-affiliated, we believe it should be communicated to our audience as well.

The MCSC staff alone, in collaboration with University officials,  has the authority to declare whether or not certain information is shared from this space via The Scoop, social media, flyers/posters, etc.  We are happy to entertain conversations, questions and/or concerns regarding any material but, reserve the right to make the final decision about what can be shared and in what manner.

Our goal is to hold space so that each of us, with our similarities and differences, can make a home within The MCSC.
Please help us make this goal a reality. Bring your respect, courage and aspiration for the beautiful community to the work of co-creating an environment where we can all belong.

With love,
The MCSC Team
