Dear Prism Members:
Happy New Year! 2020 is finally in the rearview mirror and while there’s still much to be seen of what 2021 will bring, you can be sure that Prism will continue to create programs and events that connect us while working to ensure that LCC is a place where everyone feels welcome.
I’m excited to be the Chair of Prism and am glad to have you as a member. I’m happy you found your way to this group and I hope that you make an effort to get involved in the many events and activities we host. This year, we plan to continue annual events such as the LGBTQIA+ Icons Display in April, Pride at LCC Celebration in June and Transgender Awareness Week and Transgender Day of Remembrance in November. On top of these yearly events, we are also planning several virtual member activities throughout the year, starting with a Cocktail Hour, that I'll be hosting, on February 18 at 5:30 pm. I love being part of Prism because it’s personal to me. It matters to me that the place I work is open and accepting of everyone; it matters to me that we loudly and proudly celebrate Pride Month and Trans Awareness Week; it matters to me that we have gender-neutral restrooms and a Preferred/Chosen Name policy. Prism members sit at these tables and make their voices heard. It matters.

Prism Speed-Friending
Time: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join Prism for a virtual speed friending event! We all need to feel more connected these days. We’ll be using Glimpse to facilitate 1-on-1 speed chat rounds complete with icebreakers and games! Take some time out of your day to chat with some friendly faces that you haven’t seen in a while and maybe meet some new people, too!

The Prism Icon Event 2021 will be held April 22, 2021 online. If you haven't nominated your favorite LGBTQIA+ Icon, there's still time to submit your nomination! Have you gathered inspiration from someone in the LGBTQIA+ community locally or nationally? Would you like to showcase an LGBTQIA+ individual that has made important contributions to society?
