Geoff Edwards 1950 – 2021
Our MG friend passed away on Wednesday 3rd February at Salisbury Hospital.
Geoff joined the MGB Register Committee in 2012 during the planning for MGB50 at Blenheim Palace and immediately volunteered to join the organising committee.  Geoff then took over the MGB Treasurer’s position in 2013, staying on the committee until 2019.
Being a true MG enthusiast and being interested in all things mechanical and electrical he was always happy working on his cars and giving tips to others.
Geoff’s pride and joy was his MGBGT which he owned since buying new in 1979.  His fleet also included a MGZTT260 V8 which was used as his daily drive and a RV8 which officially is Carol’s MG.
A quiet man who enjoyed a laugh was respected by all and when he wanted to make his point, we all listened! He was an excellent support to me as MGB Register Chairman.  His profession was a quantity surveyor with John Laing and he spent some time in the Falkland’s after the 1982 war rebuilding the bombed airport.
Geoff will be very much missed by us all.
Our deepest condolences go to Carol and family.
John Watson
Chairman MGB Register.

Episode 42: A special MGA raising awareness around Alzheimers Disease

James Davis’s father bought his MGA Twin Cam in 1964 and over the course of the next 53 years, enthusiastically drove it on both road and track across the world from the UK to Barbados and Canada. The MGA had always featured in James’s life and he always assumed that one day, it would be his. Sadly though it had to be sold in Canada during 2016 to fund his Dad’s Alzheimers healthcare. But years later, and after the passing of his father, James has managed to buy the car back through an incredible twist of fate. James is now using it to raise money and awareness around Alzheimers Disease.

Lost & Found News from the Registrar

MGB GT: OUT 834W

My name is Philippe and I’m a Belgian citizen and proud owner of an MGB GT V8 conversion.

I would like to know if it is possible to find out the details of a previous owner

I bought this car from a restoration garage in Sheffield in 2015. They did a 2-year full restoration of the car, after buying it from another car dealer.

The only information they could share with me is that the initial conversion to V8 was made in Scotland, back in 1997-98.

The car had first registration in March 1981 and no MOT since 2006.

From a document made by the owner we know that the conversion was made in 1997-98. We know that this gentleman drove the car a few years, but passed away and the car was then abandoned maybe until 2006, based on last MOT date…?

I would love to find family members of the previous owner and to get in contact with them and let them know what happened to their MGB and maybe collect some more information, pictures, from the time of the conversion.

If your organisation has this information or can find it out, I would be more than happy to get a reply.

Your help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and greeting from Belgium, Philippe

MGB Roadster: MGU 380W

I was the first owner of a 1980 Pageant Blue Convertible MGU 380W and would be very keen to meet up again!

I would much appreciate an entry in your Lost and Found area. Regretfully all the photographs of this car disappeared during a long ago move.

It was undersealed from new, came with the standard Rostyle Wheels and striped fabric seats (dreadful but I never got around to changing them).

Best regards, John

MGB Roadsters: HHW 173N and GCF 707V

Jeff is looking for his former MGB Roadster HHW 173N. It was originally Citron Yellow. Any information would be appreciated.
Jeff currently owns an MGB GCF 707V. If any previous owners of this car are reading this article please get in touch.

Can anyone help Dave with information about this car?
Hi All, I have been a member of the MGCC since buying my first MGB in 1977. When I bought this car it had a personalised reg number which I transferred to another vehicle and was allocated the age related number shown in the title. I sold the car in 1996 and was under the impression it was exported to Sweden. However, whilst looking through the DVLA MOT history website recently I typed in the reg number and was amazed to discover that it was MOT'd in 2016! The details of the car are the same (1968 MGB, red) so does this mean the car has been re-imported or would the DVLA have allocated this number to another vehicle?
If the car has come back into the UK I would dearly like to contact the new owner and see my old car again.

Regards,
Dave
MGB Roadster: EDF 688L

I am trying to trace an MGB roadster Reg EDF 688L I bought new in 1972 . It was Harvest Gold but I see on the DVLA site that it is now Red. If any of your members has any information on EDF 688L I would be most grateful if they could contact me.
With thanks,
William
MGB Roadster: VUJ 933K

Hi, I owned this 1971 MGB Roadster VUJ 933K between 1987 and 1989. It was in Blaze with black vinyl interior. I restored the car, enjoyed a couple of trips to Le Mans in it and used it as my everyday car. I sold it to a friend in Rochdale who subsequently sold it a year or so later to an Air Stewardess based in Manchester. The DVLA record it as SORN and last changing hands in 2012. I would like to be re-united with the car, can anyone help?

Thanks, Hugh
If you have any information about one of these cars please contact
