Let’s Begin!

Hello and welcome to the first Manifesto of 2021! We have lots to share this year and more information for our first newsletter. Let’s get straight to it. Are events going to happen in 2021?

News

As you may have already heard Glastonbury festival has been cancelled again for another year and many people are speculating, it may affect other major festivals around the UK. For further update on this significant issue, go to Association of Independent Festivals and find out what organiser are thinking.

Glastonbury could be a anchor by which all festivals may follow this season, Paul says. “Considering its global cultural significance as the largest greenfield festival in the world, of course it sets the tone, especially in terms of public confidence in festivals going ahead this year.” Paul Reed

Does this mean it the end of the UK’s event industry?

Absolutely not, it is going to be another hard year for the event industry as whole. If 2020 has proved anything it will show the resilience and determination of individuals and stakeholders to forge a way forward come the end of the summer season. Events will continue under new restrictions and guidance; they will be enjoyed and entertaining. They may not be the most financially lucrative however they keep fans morale high and the industry going. Being a small promoter or event planner may also be beneficial to put on these socially distanced outdoor events in local beer gardens to gain brand exposure.

We believe virtual events will still be a major part of 2021. Using 2020 as a template virtual events have been very successful for many companies, artists and performers.

“Last year Veeps live streams helped artists, both big names and new acts, make over [US]$10 million for themselves, their families, their crew and their chosen causes, and we’re looking forward to helping even more artists connect with fans this year in ways that support their art and their development.” Comments Micheal Rapino CEO of Live Nation.

With the cost of putting on virtual events becoming more affordable if you have not explored putting on a virtual event 2021 may be the year to explore this avenue!

Event Case Study - New Years Eve 2020

2020 New Year’s Eve show may be one of the most unusual ones in recent history due to the pandemic. However, what we saw a willingness of countries to showcase how their event industry could create a show with many restrictions in place.

In this newsletter we are going to focus on the London New Year’s Eve Show.

London welcomed in 2021 with a spectacular city-wide display, sending a message of thanks and hope to the nation and the world. A dedicated team of experts created the 10-minute extraordinary experience designed for home-viewing and watched by a global viewing audience of millions.

For the first time ever, the event was designed purely for a remote audience and connected to multiple sites across the city, taking viewers on a journey across The Shard London, London Bridge, The O2, Wembley Stadium and Tower Bridge.  It also included the largest drone lighting show ever seen in the UK.  The live event was kept under wraps until Big Ben rang in the New Year, ensuring it remained a home-audience only event, maintaining the safety and security of Londoners during the pandemic.

Production Details!
The show included 30 Laser Heads which were installed, programmed and operated by 12 of ER’s Crew. Central to the show was The Shard where 14 x 30w Laser heads combined to create Large White Conductor beams which triggered each iconic sites Show, where we worked alongside Woodroffe Bassett Design and their Shard Lighting Systems.

Another integral part of the display included an array of 168 Elation Proteus Hybrids lining London Bridge to project stunning beams over the River Thames and into the night.

SKYMAGIC used a staggering fleet of 300 drones — the UK’s largest and London’s first ever large-scale drone show — to vividly depict some of the most iconic and important themes and moments of 2020.
