Message from Principal Lundgren
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy. This year has been so challenging for students, families, teachers, and staff. We have endured so many changes and overcome many obstacles in the first half of this year! Now that we are entering the second semester with Term 3 beginning next Monday, we are gearing up for another great shift as we welcome back around 90 students and 15 teachers and staff to in-person classrooms, school-wide.
This week we are celebrating our unity as a school community, even as many factors are challenging us to stay together. Join us in celebrating the strength of Marie Reed Elementary School through our “One School” Unity Spirit Week activities! As our new Vice President Kamala Harris said, “Our unity is our strength and diversity our power.”

PS – Don’t forget! There is no school for students this Friday, January 29 since it is the final day of Term 2 and Records Day for teachers. We will see you back in class on Monday, February 1!

Mensaje de la Directora Lundgren
Espero que todos estén bien y se mantengan sanos y salvos. Este año ha sido un reto para los estudiantes, las familias, los profesores y el personal. Hemos afrontado muchos cambios y superado muchos obstáculos en la primera mitad de este año. Ahora que estamos entrando en el segundo semestre, con el tercer periodo que comienza el próximo lunes, nos estamos preparando para otro gran cambio, ya que damos la bienvenida a aproximadamente 90 estudiantes y 15 profesores y personal a las aulas presenciales, en toda la escuela.
Esta semana celebramos nuestra unidad como comunidad escolar, incluso cuando muchos factores nos desafían a permanecer juntos. Únase a nosotros para celebrar la fuerza de la Escuela Primaria Marie Reed a través de nuestras actividades de la Semana de Espíritu de Unidad "Una Escuela". Math Books Distribution -TOMORROW!
Do you have books from Marie Reed library at home?
Wednesday January 27, from 9:00-2:00 pm
All students from K-5th grade will be able to pick up the Eureka Math books for term 3 at the gym.
Please connect and organize with other families in the community to support others with pick up materials. Don't forget to bring a bag!
If you still have books from our library at home, please bring them with you and return them in the library cart that will be available.
Our Librarian Ms. Redekopp, will be joining us from 12:00-2pm, so don't forget to stop by and meet her in person!
Remember to follow the safety guidelines: wear a mask and stay at least 6 feet apart. If you feel sick please stay at home to protect others.

- First, please contact the DCPS Help Desk for further assistance, at 202-442-5885. They might be able to remotely troubleshoot your DCPS device.

Student Internet Safety
As a reminder, students and staff must follow the DCPS Student and Staff Technology and Acceptable Use Policy. They must adhere to all DCPS student internet safety policies. Your partnership in reinforcing these expectations is critical.

Immunization Requirements
In preparation for a more expanded school opening beginning in Term 3, please make sure your child's immunizations are up to date. If you are unsure of your child's status, reach out to Nurse Kamara at 202-671-1774 to inquire.
To help students meet immunization requirements School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) will be open through December. Click here for more information on SBHC or to find a pediatric community facility location nearest you.
