President's Letter
Dear CNYD&CTA members and supporters,

I am very much looking forward to 2021 as a fresh start for the club. This year is the club’s 50th anniversary and we want to maintain everything that you have known and loved about the club while implementing creative ideas and ventures in today’s world. Board members are currently working hard behind the scenes to bring in new opportunities for all of you this year.

We can’t do anything without the help of our generous volunteers so I encourage you to find something that interests you and consider donating your time toward it. It’s a great way to learn and meet new people.

In addition to volunteering, fresh and creative ideas are necessary to sustain the club. I want to hear your ideas and concerns. I look forward to connecting with all of you more this year!
CNYD&CTA president
Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.

Sincerely yours,
Corrinne

To All Current and Not Yet Renewed Members:

The annual board and member at large Ballot and Survey Summary of Results was filled out by 39 of 90 current members. Upon compiling the responses, I wanted to follow up on a few things.

In summary, there were requests for:
  • More CNYD&CTA dressage and jumping clinics
  • For CNYD&CTA to put on a USDF Recognized Schooling Show
  • For CNYD&CTA to offer some non-performance awards at shows
  • For more frequent newsletters
  • For show results to be posted in newsletters
  • For more and better outreach to volunteers regarding opportunities
  • Generally for better communication between members and the Board.
All of these were reviewed and discussed at the November Planning Meeting as follows:
  1. Amy Bittner has volunteered to be our Clinic Coordinator. If you have ideas about a clinic for CNYD&CTA to host, please contact Amy and, if possible, the clinician you'd like to propose along with a potential host facility. That will get the ball rolling to presenting a proposal to the board.
  2. We are gathering information about the rules and regulations to make our schooling shows eligible for USDF Regional Schooling Show Awards. Given that they are likely to require some additional volunteer hours to put them on, I would welcome some extra volunteers.
  3. Regarding adding non-performance awards to our shows, this would require some forethought to come up with specifics and a proposal for the board. Ideas are welcome!
  4.  Regarding our newsletters, Wendy Brooks has already indicated a desire to pass the torch. We hope that someone would be willing to understudy her in 2021 and to assume the responsibility in 2022. If you would like to step into this role, you would be most welcome.
  5. Regarding social media usage, I want to publish content that highlights the club but also the lives of its members and volunteers. So please, send me in your stories and pictures: did you buy a new horse? Did your mare have a foal? In addition to sending me content, I believe that someone who wanted to step into a social media volunteer role would be most welcome as it is a lot of work to keep up on.
  6. Regarding more robust communication about volunteer needs and opportunities, we are working on a plan to better organize our outreach and provide members with the information they'd like to contribute their time in CNYD&CTA and/or accumulate the requisite hours to qualify for year-end awards. Stay tuned.
Finally, please don't hesitate to contact me directly with any questions, comments or concerns. The other board members or members at large are available as well. Their emails are on the website. You will get a response.

Yours truly,
Corrinne Spaulding
President, CNYD&CTA
