Comms from the Commodore

A belated Happy New Year to you all and I hope you and your families are keeping well.

The club's main committee has met to plan out the year ahead.   Although we are not entirely sure when we will be able to restart sailing and training, we do want to ensure that we will be ready to go when the time comes.

We have also discussed some new ideas for the year ahead such as an annual class sailing regatta, mid-week racing , a club environmental policy , new capital projects and a follow up members survey so we can obtain your feedback.   We will share more details as our thinking evolves.

We continue to keep a focus on the club's finances and are looking to submit applications for the additional government funding which is now available.  On that note, we would very much appreciate any members who are yet to pay their renewal fees to do this as soon as possible.

Whilst these are the cold grey months of the year, we look forward to seeing you all the back at the club as soon as government restrictions allow.

All for now.

It's that time of year again...............

when the Main Committee members spend their evenings telephoning those who have forgotten to complete their membership renewals.   To save yourself the inconvenience of being called up in the middle of your supper/online yoga class/putting the kids to bed/glass of wine/favourite tv programme, and the committee member's time, please remember to complete your renewal as soon as possible

If for any reason you are not able to renew your membership this year, it will still save that awkward telephone call if you could drop an email to Debbie on membership@papercourt-sc.org.uk as soon as possible.   Please also let Debbie know if you have acquired or sold any boats during the past year if they now differ from that on your invoice.

We do hope that you will stay with us and look forward to a better 2021 going forward.

About Dogs

Please rest assured that the question of whether or not to allow dogs at the club is not being forgotten.

Since our last update certain members have stepped forward to prepare papers to support a change in the bye laws to admit dogs on a restricted basis whilst other members who wish no change to the bye laws, have also submitted their reasoning..

In addition,  a sub committee of the main committee has been set up to consider, amongst  other things all the implications of a change in our bye laws if members vote for this change and the operational considerations.

Once this preparatory work has been completed,  all this information together with the specific wording of the bye law change will be shared with all members to allow full consideration and understanding, prior to a vote taking place.

America's Cup contender American Magic caught by a gust - Don't think standing on the centreboard and pulling on the jib sheet will sort this one out!
