As we begin the new semester, we remind you that the U is a member of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD). The NCFDD is an independent faculty development center dedicated to supporting academics in making successful transitions throughout their careers, and our Institutional Membership provides all faculty, postdocs, and grad students with access to NCFDD’s member resources.

We encourage you to claim your membership by going to www.FacultyDiversity.org/Join. Once you complete the registration process and receive the “welcome email” from NCFDD, you can register for upcoming trainings, such as "Every Semester Needs a Plan."

We’re excited to offer our faculty, postdocs, and graduate students with the opportunity to participate in NCFDD’s unique form of mentoring and career development. If you have any questions or comments about the membership, please contact the AVP for Faculty Equity and Diversity, Myra Washington. If you have any technical questions, please email NCFDD at Membership@FacultyDiversity.org.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

As of January 5, 2021, students and employees will be able to use a chosen/preferred name in the campus directory and several HR systems. See more information here: https://attheu.utah.edu/announcements/name-changes-in-campus-directories/

During #DVAM2020 the University of Utah’s Gender-Based Violence Consortium partnered with Fighting Against Domestic Violence to create the “Relationship Violence Toolkit for Educators.” The toolkit (click here for access) is for educators, where content is organized to include suggestions for teaching from those new to the issues (101) to those more advanced in their knowledge (201 and 301).

The Gender-Based Violence Consortium at the University of Utah brings together an interdisciplinary team of scholars representing multiple colleges across campus. The consortium is an inter-professional collaboration, a campus scholarly network that embodies an academic commitment to sharing knowledge, supporting long-term collaborations through research hubs, creating programming, sharing teaching and responding to gender-based violence in Utah.

The mission of Fight Against Domestic Violence is to generate resources for domestic violence survivors and service providers through corporate, individual, and community partnerships.

Special acknowledgements to the authors and co-creators of the toolkit: Brooke Muir (Fight Against Domestic Violence), Heather Harris, Dr. Jessie Lynn Richards (University of Utah), Dr. Annie Isabel Fukushima (University of Utah), and Diane Le Strain (University of Utah).

If you would like us to present the toolkit to your college or department, would like to receive updates about gender-based violence, or would like to learn more about how you may be involved, please contact Dr. Annie Isabel Fukushima gbvc@utah.edu
