Join us next Weekend for the Australia Day Boat Carnival! This is the second time running this event and with the recent lock downs I believe it will be a great turn out and some exciting racing! We are always on the look out for volunteers - especially COVID marshals. Being a COVID marshal allows you to watch the competition. If you are interested please fill out the link here.
North Steyne will have five crews competing, including our junior Female and Male crews on the Saturday and Sunday we have the A team, Buccaneers and Tigerlillies competing - the crews have all been busy training in the gym and out on the water. You may even see a crew out on the water if you are out early or check out instagram for some great shots by local photographers.
This is one of our largest fundraisers for the club so any help will be really appreciated. A special thanks to Dave Maguire, Mike Bernerius and Col Stanford for their support and mentoring the junior crews. Good luck also to the A team for the next round of Ocean Thunder on 30 January.
Reminder that Board Training is on every Sunday morning 8.00am - 9.00am. This is a great chance to work on your board and swimming, with a touch of sand running too! Be ready with your goggles and pink rashie.
Come along to the 'Twilight Hour' social paddle and swim on Thursday 21 January for a paddle/swim from 6.00pm - 7.00pm. All fitness levels welcome (open to SRC / Bronze).
Branch championships will be kicking off at the end of January.
- Lifesaving Theory components - 27th & 28th January
- Lifesaving events - from 31st January to 14th February
- Nippers - 6th and 7th February
- Open/Masters - 6th and 14th February
If you are interested in competing for U15 / U17 / U19, Opens and Masters please let me know.
Look forward to seeing you at the beach

We hope everyone had an enjoyable and moreover safe break given the covid outbreak and northern beaches lockdown over Christmas and New Year, which unfortunately played havoc with our end of year plans, leading us to cancel our Christmas party and reschedule the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) assessment for our Under 14 group.
Nippers returned on Sunday 10th January, the sun was shining bright and there were smiles all round!

Congratulations to the North Steyne Junior Lifesaver of the Year (JLOTY) nominees Emilie Morris and Oskar Townsin-Brant, pictured below, who were selected from a number of candidates in our under 14 age group based on a detailed written proposal demonstrating their contribution to and understanding of Surf Life Saving, and an original initiative within the organisation to improve service to the community and member experience.
Emilie and Oskar will attend a series of workshops at Northern Beaches Branch to develop their proposals and will present these to the Branch and hopefully State level award panels. We wish them the best of luck with their presentations!
