Dear DRIMB Parents/Guardians and Community—
I hope you all are doing well and staying safe!
Last week, Jeffco Public Schools announced the return to an in-person (hybrid) learning model, starting 1/25 for middle and high schools in the district, for families who select that learning option. I am looking forward to continuing our year in music with all students, both hybrid and fully remote.
As we prepare to return to this model, I ask that you check with your music student about their music equipment/PPE, so as to ensure the safest in-person learning environment possible. Here are the basics of what students should be prepared with when in music class at DRHS:
All students
- Mask (check Jeffco guidelines for acceptable masks)
- Charged computer/device
- A working instrument (let me know if there are any questions about instrument maintenance/repairs/etc.)
Orchestra students
- Rosin for your instrument (we aren’t sharing rosin between students)
- Extra set of strings for their instrument if possible
- Shoulder rest for Violin/Viola
Band (woodwind/brass) students
- ***VERY IMPORTANT*** Playing mask and instrument cover (made by our fabulous DRIMB parents) — Please let us know ASAP if there is a need for replacement of these items.
- Personal instrument maintenance/care supplies, such as valve oil, instrument swab/snake, etc. (We aren’t sharing these supplies)
Percussion Students
- Personal mallets/drumsticks/percussion supplies (we aren’t sharing these items)
- Personal practice pad if possible
Please let me know if there are any questions about the items above.
Winter guard and percussion ensembles will now be able to have limited in-person activities, as well. As this information is received from the district, directors Marissa Keating (guard) and Peter Hirschhorn (percussion) will communicate with their ensembles more information.
Thank you so much for your support for our music students— I am excited to continue to make our way through the year with all of our ensembles.

From our Booster Board
Hello Music Families,
We hope you have all had a great week and the kids are enjoying their long weekend!
We will be having our next Virtual Booster Meeting sometime in March. We have a few exciting things we are planning and we are eager to share with everyone at the meeting! More details and exact times will be coming soon!
We will be sending out information on our Music Booster Scholarships to all the Seniors within the next few weeks. The applications will be due in late March before spring break. We will be awarding 3 scholarships worth $1,000.00 each. These are the same as the scholarships we have offered in previous years. We feel strongly as a board that we want to continue to support the students as they have given so much to our program over the last four years. More information will be provided on the application process soon.
We will not be returning to Bingo until Jeffco is at yellow status. Please keep in mind we need Bingo managers for next year. We currently only have one Bingo manager for this summer and the next school year, and we need 3 or 4 managers at least to make it manageable. Please contact Vanessa if you are interested in helping. This is our biggest and right now only source of income for our program. Since we haven't been able to work bingo most of this year, we will need as much help as possible when we are able to return. We will need the funds raised over the summer for Marching Band and our other fall programs.
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Tami Smith and Lorey Bratten
Co-Presidents
