We have big news!

Rayjon will be featured in an upcoming podcast and illustration series focused on the future of international cooperation and global solidarity, and the partnerships needed for gender transformative, sustainable development, in collaboration with the Ontario Council for International Cooperation.
Podcast host Safa Shahkhalili of @rethinkingdevelopment and illustrator Amanda Schutz are helping us to tell the story of our partnership with the Haitian Women’s Federation—and just what the women are planning next! You’ll hear the voices of two of the Haitian Women's Federation members as they share their thoughts.

The series will share stories from 7 other amazing Ontario organizations, and their respective international partners. 2 episodes will be released each week between International Development Week (Feb 7-13) and International Women’s Day (March 8th). “Rayjon’s” episode will go live on March 1st!

Please stay tuned for further details about when/where you can listen to the podcast. We'll also share on our website and social media.

You betcha we'll be doing something special for International Women's Day! Stay tuned ;)

2021 is here. Where is Rayjon?

As the world continues to face the hardships of a pandemic, and wrestles with the seemingly endless (and heart-wrenching) political turmoil and deep social division that affects us all… where is Rayjon? Where are we headed? What is happening and what do we anticipate in 2021?

We hope.

  • We are still here! Rayjon supported initiatives in Haiti/DR haven’t ended. And while there are certainly challenges due to Covid, our partners on the ground are doing amazing things. They have not given up and we continue to stand with them!
  • Some programs have actually been reenergized. Visit our website to learn more about what is happening in Education, Health Care, and the Empowerment of Women… or to check out some special personal stories about some of the changemakers behind the progress.

We plan.

  • Travel is out ☹...No Awareness, Health Professional or Eyeglass Trips (for now). We are certainly missing face-to-face contact with our partners and friends.
  • But inability to travel doesn’t mean our support is any less. We’re using technology creatively to maintain communication with Haitian & Dominican leaders.
  • While our support/partnership is needed, our physical presence is not mandatory at this time. It is the leadership and hard work of our Haitian & Dominican partners that keep programs running all year!

Here are some good things happening in 2021:

  • Alpha Literacy Classes for more than 100 adults in Haiti (90% women)
  • Expanded access to microcredit loans & training for women
  • An exciting new economic development & sustainable agriculture initiative by the Haitian Women’s Federation
  • Legal support to families of Haitian descent to gain their rightful citizenship in the DR
  • Post-secondary scholarships & skills training for Haitian graduates
We re-imagine.
  • No social gatherings has meant the cancellation of some (beloved) in-person fundraisers. But it has also pushed us to greater creativity and inspired new events and new ways of connecting with one another.
  • 2021 is the last year of our current strategic plan. We’ll be taking the time to reflect, to celebrate progress, and to brainstorm for the future. We learn and grow together!
  • These challenging times call us to put our core values into action, finding new ways of expressing them in the current context.
Culture & Cuisine #3 (with Sarnia Muslim Association) POSTPONED.
Don't worry! We'll schedule a new date for this awesome event as soon as possible. Stay safe!
And thanks for continuing to support Rayjon.
