For the love of winter!

Be a Deer!

This week's cards weren't based on any particular theme but then a common thread immerged as I was working along to more winter themes with deer.

The first cutie card is another precious image by Anita Jeram (Colorado Stamp Co.).  Scallop diecut opening (Stampendous) is mounted onto fun foam.  Simple watercolor kept this card easy and fun to create.
I used an extra Distress Oxide background from last week's projects and and two different diecuts.  I swiped a white inkpad across the pine trees and a grey inkpad across the birch trees before affixing.  The sentiment was an oldie from my wood block drawer.  I had to practice stamping with it several times before I got the image I wanted!  Turns out I was pressing way too hard.

The leftover background was stamped with a "found" Stampendous cling and is actually a beautiful background image of snowflakes.  Even though it's discontinued, I found it on Amazon in both wood and cling mount.  Although it's hard to see, I found an embossing folder with a border that worked great around this card.  Wonder how many embossing folders you have that you don't use?  For contrast, I diecut two trees and offset them.  I like how the two deer are walking along together.  I see deer doing that all the time at my NY home, which is in the country where there's plenty of land for them to roam.
Another use of leftovers from the masking fluid project of a few weeks ago!  A quick smoosh Distress Oxide background brought the frame together nicely.  My Sizzix pine boughs die really gave it an unexpected coastal vibe just by changing the cardstock colors!
Not sure I'm able to stop making gnome cards!

Have a pleasant week!

XOXO
