LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD: VIRTUAL DAY AT THE CAPITOL
FEBRUARY 9

Join mentoring programs from across the state in outreach to legislators about the broad and deep effect mentoring has in local communities.  This important advocacy event allows legislators and their staff to connect with mentors, advocates, professionals, and young people to talk about critical issues facing Iowa youth and the legislation and policies they can implement to expand access to quality mentoring opportunities.

February is Black History Month, a celebration of the lives and historic contributions of Black Americans. As we champion the great impact on American history and successes of Black adults, we also  celebrate our Black youth as we walk along with them as they create their own stories.

The Iowa Mentoring Partnership is proud to host a virtual mentoring program that connects remarkable college students like Chantal Shirley (Computer Software Development, Kirkwood Community College) with dedicated mentors like Garritt Grandberg, VP of Technology & Engineering at Visionary in Des Moines, who are featured in this brief and compelling mentoring testimonial.  Mentors are needed for Future Ready Iowa Virtual Mentoring, which connects students pursuing degrees in high-demand fields with current professionals or retirees in their field. The highest demand for mentors is in IT and healthcare, especially nursing. Mentoring is delivered through messaging and video call in an online platform, which makes it safe and COVID friendly!   Connect with the Program Manager at jason.wiegand@iowaeda.com or visit Future Ready Iowa Virtual Mentoring to enroll or learn more.
