A Season of Psalm and Prayer

Our worship together continues to focus on psalm and prayer. Our worship series is called "God Is Holding Your Life." We are using resources created by Worship Design Studio and videos of our own creation.

As part of prayer and worship, we invite you to find a bowl or box or other container in your home where you can write the prayers that come to mind during the week or in the midst of worship and place them in this container to symbolize that you are releasing them into God's hands, into God's care.

Until we can again be physically together, may you treasure the ways you feel held by one another and by Divine Love.

Reminder: The video link is live when this email arrives. Many gather at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, and others watch as early as Saturday morning. Whenever you watch, may you feel as if the sanctuary has come into your home and feel the spirit of our faith community as we worship together virtually.

Thank you for not sharing any of the Zoom links on social media!

Conversations with John Cobb Continue this Sunday (Zoom Information above). The topics for this week's discussion are "God’s Saving Way? Ecological Civilization!" Tomorrow, January 24, at 11 a.m. we will search for God’s saving Way in chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8 of John Cobb's book, Salvation: Jesus’s Mission and Ours.

Jesus summed up the saving activity of God in his gospel announcement that the "kingdom of God is at hand! Repent and believe that good news!" The New Testament word for “kingdom of God” is basileia tou theou, appropriately translated in our day as “divine commonwealth.” John Cobb sees today’s parallel to Jesus’ proclamation in the aim for “ecological civilization.” Can we find hope for our people by working for “ecological civilization”? Repentance will be called for as we re-examine all aspects of our lives in light of two significant values: Is it relational? Does it integrate human experience into the natural world? We must rethink everything in light of those values in order to save a humane life on a dying planet!
