One thing we learned from Mister Rogers was how to take care of our neighbors and our neighborhood. Looking back over this past year it was amazing to see such UNITY in our COMMUNITY! To see churches, businesses, organizations and individuals joining forces to come together to help our neighbors.
The volunteers who came together to step out and serve without fear to deliver food boxes, toiletries, diapers, Christmas gifts, holiday meals. To help with our food box drive through each week, praying for those in their cars and listening with their hearts. Doors may have been closed, but people’s hearts were open.
A teacher’s voice advocating for her students that were in great need and received the help, she was working on their behalf.
A Rotary club helping 104 children with $100 gift cards from Target for clothes, shoes and coats. The family of nine who lost their home and ran out only with the clothes on their back receiving $100 gift cards to replace what was lost.
A teacher’s aide going through a messy divorce, losing her husband’s income with bills mounting and nothing extra for Christmas. She stood by her car at our food drive through in tears as we gave her a holiday meal and told her a donor would adopt her children for Christmas.
What was given was not simply food, gifts, toiletries, diapers, holiday meals.
What was given was HOPE!
Because you HELPED!
Never underestimate the power of the smallest act of caring, it can have the potential to turn a life around, and isn’t that what we are called to do?
To Love God and to Love our Neighbors - Thank you for doing that well!
Blessings in the coming year,
