How are those resolutions going?
Or should I not ask...?!
Here’s my confession: I tried (and failed) to do a daily journal FOR YEARS. I just couldn’t stick to the habit, even though I knew it would be good for me. 🤦🏻♀️
Then I read about an idea where you abandon the big goal and instead just aim for an easy win. And once you have nailed that win, it’s easy to keep going. I stopped trying to write a daily journal entry and instead, all I had to write was the date.
JUST THE DATE.
Easy, I could do that!
And by the time I’d got a pen, grabbed my journal and written the date, well, I might as well write a little more…
The best way to stick to a new habit (or New Years Resolution!) is make it super EASY.
If you want to be more creative and it’s just not happening, stop telling yourself you are going to colour a page a day, or complete a double page spread each week.
Instead, aim to pick up a colouring pencil and do just 1 colour in your picture. Maybe a bit of green. Tomorrow you’ll do a bit of yellow. All you have to do is ONE colour.
And if you do more…brilliant! But you don’t HAVE to.
I suspect you’ll soon find you do a little more than just that one colour and ta da, before you know it, that new habit doesn’t seem so overwhelming.

I get asked ALL the time what colouring pencils I recommend and whilst I do like to flit about and try lovely new things (!) I ALWAYS come back to these pencils.
They may not be the fanciest, the most expensive or the newest, but they are my Old Faithfuls!
