TechImpact heads into 2021 full of optimism and gratitude. Our new year’s intention? To remain focused on the growth of our digital economy. 

Despite the challenges we know lie ahead, in 2020 we saw just how strong, resilient, and supportive our innovation community is. Our people are indeed our superpower, as this newsletter shows through our sector’s stories, events, programs, and opportunities.

BRICKS Program Launch

The Bell Research Intensive Cyber Knowledge Studies (BRICKS) program provides students with a Master of Applied Cybersecurity, scholarship funding, a four-month research internship and, ultimately, a full-time job offer. Bell is committing $1.2 million over three years in partnership with the program. Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing field, with 3.5 million unfilled positions projected globally in 2021. New Brunswick is emerging as a national leader in cybersecurity with a strong cluster of partners in business, academia, government and business. You can find the full story release here!

The UNB Faculty of Computer Science Co-op Program is now accepting Summer 2021 co-op job postings from employers. If your business is looking for student workers this summer, this is a great way to post your posting.

A virtual job fair on Wednesday, Jan. 27, is an excellent opportunity for employers to connect with computer science students. Along with senior students seeking full-time opportunities, students interested in Co-op & PEP work term placements will be there, too. ICTC WIL Digital Atlantic Program

ICTC’s WIL Digital program is an innovative Work Integrated Learning initiative, funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program. This program offers organizations access to a talent pool with a wide range of skills from across Canada and a potential wage subsidy of up to $7,500 if a student from the program is hired. Funding is still available for winter work term positions, even if the position has already started. Be sure to check out this opportunity if you’re looking for student talent.
