Good morning, Raleigh. 👋 Erin here. And I just want to tell you what a joy it has been writing for you during the past 17 months. Since RALtoday launched in Fall 2019, it has been an honor + a privilege to share the Triangle’s most relevant news, events, and conversations with you.
As I’m sure some of you can relate, this new year is bringing some changes and growth for me, including a new role as Senior Editor for 6AM City (RALtoday’s parent company) — a position that includes supporting the incredible team here at RALtoday, as well as editors in our other cities (AVLtoday, CHStoday, COLAtoday, GVLtoday, LALtoday, NASHtoday + NOOGAtoday).

So, we’re looking to fill my seat as an Editor for RALtoday. Are you a locally-based, multimedia storyteller who’s fired up about all things Raleigh-related? I can tell you from experience — this is a fast-paced, exciting job that includes content creation, original reporting, audience development, and social media management. Oh, and you’ll have the best co-editor ever. ✍️ (Say hey to Carly.)
You might be a good fit if
• You know Raleigh like the back of your hand, from city council meeting topics to the buzziest restaurant openings
• You’re engaged on social media and always ready to try new things • You’re excited to dig into unfamiliar topics, ranging from real estate and development news to food, history, and the great outdoors • You love to write — you’d be doing a lot of it
• You’re a team player and you see feedback as a gift
• You think on your feet and work fast, but diligently
You can get more details about the job here, but I wanted to share the top three things I’ve loved about being a RALtoday Editor:
• The community.
Our Raleigh-based team, the 6AM City ecosystem, our local partners, and — most importantly — you, our readers. I wake up excited every morning to find out what you’re curious about and what you’re enjoying out and about in our city. Remember this video we made together?
• The stories.
Some of the local topics I’ve written about include tiny houses, downtown ambassadors, the history of Durham's Black Wall Street, missing middle housing, Raleigh's sister cities, RDU quarry, local references in Stranger Things + the Poetry Fox.
• Our company culture and values.
We have a lot of fun at 6AM City, and our five values are more than buzzwords — they underpin everything we do. If you’re the next Editor, you’ll learn all about them through our Mentorship Program.
