FAFSA deadline for Michigan residents

Michigan residents, have you filed the 2021–22 FAFSA yet? To apply for a Michigan Tuition Grant (estimated $2800) for 2021–22, you MUST submit your FAFSA by March 1, 2021! The State of Michigan will not offer this grant to students who file after March 1. In addition, you will need to meet need-based eligibility requirements. Roughly 800 Calvin students received this grant in 2020–21.

Explore the work of student artists

Join us in honoring the Class of 2020 BFA and BA arts grads by taking this fun 360° virtual gallery walk through their Senior Exhibition.

The Center Art Gallery is open to on-campus community members for spring 2021, with an upcoming exhibit and artist talk by Rebekah Sweda ’18.

New broadcast site for Calvin videos

Calvin is now using Vimeo for web broadcasts of chapel, athletics, and other events. Use the Calvin University Vimeo site (scroll down to the Livestreams heading) or the quick link calvin.edu/go/live to find upcoming broadcasts.

Calvin named COVID-19 vaccination site

Students will receive COVID Response Team updates on Tuesdays throughout the spring. Today’s update includes info about the start of second semester and return-to-learn testing. See the latest updates »

The Michigan Department of Health has approved Calvin’s health services as a COVID-19 vaccination site, though it will take time before we receive a steady allotment of vaccinations. Vaccines will be distributed according to the State of Michigan phases; see the Vaccinate West Michigan website for up-to-date information on the rollout in our region.

Strategies for job, internship searches

Interim break is a great time for students to map out their search for a permanent or summer job or internship. The COVID-19 job search tool kit provides tips and trips to help students efficiently navigate online and remote job searching.

Read more about Career Center programming in their winter 2021 newsletter (PDF).

New Campus Safety app

Our Campus Safety team recently rolled out KnightGuard, our new app for all our safety-related resources. Among the features, students can notify Campus Safety or a friend to virtually watch over their walk home, share their location with Campus Safety in an emergency, and report suspicious activity.

Deans’ List honorees

Students who maintained a 3.5 semester and cumulative GPA were named to the Fall 2020 Deans' List. Parents who wish to send information about their Deans' List student to local media can use this press release.

Calvin Academy for Lifelong Learning

Parents and grandparents are encouraged to check out the online programming offered by the CALL program—and help us spread the word about these classes to lifelong learners. Topics and leaders range from Anne Bronte (Jennifer Holberg) to political discipleship (Richard Mouw) to history of the Black church (Fred Johnson III).

Spring membership is $30, plus a $30/course fee, and you can participate in real time or watch later. See the CALL spring curriculum guide for details.
