Statement of Historical Significance on Streatham Hill Theatre

This report has been released, giving a remarkable look inside the dormant building.

We have sent out a press release covering this and other important news:

● The Statement of Historical Significance by leading international architecture firm Aedas brings together over 100 pictures and drawings to show that the 1920’s building is a potentially well preserved time capsule, but the clock is ticking
● The statement says that its significant architectural heritage value must be taken into account in any plans for the 2,500 seat theatre
● Also launched today, the Theatres Trust ‘Theatres at Risk’ register 2021 includes the theatre on its list of buildings at greatest risk
● And multi award-winning choreographer and dancer, Akram Khan, has been announced as our 10th Patron of the Friends of Streatham Hill Theatre campaign to save the building for public use.

See the full press release here.

Can you help some more please?

The Spacehive Crowdfunder we ran earlier in the year was very successful, with pledges from hundreds of supporters and grants from Lambeth, Mayor of London and Theatres Trust more than reaching the total we needed to carry out the viability study and economic impact assessment. We thank everyone who contributed!

Unfortunately, when Spacehive processed the pledges, some could not be collected. We suspect much of this was due to the untimely arrival of COVID and its impact on pledgers' employment and income making it no longer possible for them to contribute.

While we have received more donations (thank you!) since the Crowdfunder, we still have a small shortfall of around £500.

As we move forward with great proposals for the future of Streatham Hill Theatre emerging from the study we are asking if you can please donate a little more here to enable the campaign to continue.
Thanks very much!
