Greetings! We're excited to share some great resources and let you know about a few events you won't want to miss. Happy reading!

Announcements

Our next meeting will be held February 26th from 12 to 1 pm EST.
Zoom line here.  Meeting password: 123

Special guest Skip Pruss will speak at our February Meeting!
Stanley “Skip” Pruss, an attorney and energy consultant, co-founded 5 Lakes Energy LLC, a clean energy consultancy.  Prior to that Skip was the Director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth and Michigan’s Chief Energy Officer, where he was responsible for designing and implementing Michigan’s clean energy economy diversification efforts.  Skip also served as Governor Jennifer Granholm’s Special Advisor for Renewable Energy and the Environment and was a member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Advisory Committee.

Make sure to mark your calendars so you don't miss Skip Pruss at our monthly meeting!

Thank you to those who have donated! There's so much more work to do, and we encourage anyone who is in the position to do so to consider a donation. This money will be used to apply for 501c3 status, pay our administrative director, and start a website independent of the Consortium page. Link here to donate.

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep us on the same page between meetings and serve as a resource for this community. If there is anything you would like to include (upcoming events, a riveting climate health article, or something to add to the announcements), please do not hesitate to reach out to Ellie or submit suggestions to this google form.
Thank you to MiCCA member, Joyce Stein BSN, RN, for all she does for our organization and her community!
Joyce Stein has spent a good part of her life in the Ann Arbor area, a born and bred Michigander. She received her Nursing degree from the University of Michigan and spent a career taking care of infants and children. Her interest, passion, and appreciation of the natural environment has been coupled with a love of camping and exposure to the early years of the Earth Day movements in the 1970’s. As her nursing career advanced, she was asked to be a nurse spokesperson in 2010 for the passage of the Michigan Safe Children’s Product Act. This opportunity led to the development of multiple relationships and participation with serving on the Boards of the Ecology Center, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments and serving on the Legislative Policy Committees of the Michigan Nurses Association and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses. Her experiences have highlighted the need to focus on the health impacts of environmental pollutants and climate change. Participation in MiCCA has been a perfect fit to enage the health voice in the advocacy efforts for a sustainable environment.

In addition to her steadfast energy, creativity, and enthusiasm MiCCA recognizes Joyce for her willingness to help to purchase a Zoom line and for the financial support of ANA-MI outreach at their annual conference. Thank you to Joyce for all her assistance and ongoing support!
