CIRCULAR THINKING
Proud Materialist | Edition 26
We're seeing a much needed emphasis on the circular economy lately and have selected some of the latest events, talks and projects celebrating this theme. Beyond recycled content, Environmental and Healthy Product Declarations or Life Cycle Analysis there are a growing number of tools to help evaluate the carbon and health impacts of materials –much like the nutrition information on the side of a cereal box. You can already explore the health credentials of materials on Transparency from Perkins + Will, who've also pledged to achieve net-zero interiors and are working on a new database focused on sustainable and circular design products.
Our friends at Colour of Saying held a workshop for RCA Textiles about transforming the perception of waste plastics and Seen Displays are hosting a free webinar with makers designing for a circular future. Following the success of her book Wasted, Katie Treggiden – whose own podcast Circular sees her speaking to the likes of Yinka Ilori and Seetal Solanki – reimagines the future of waste on Space Talks.
In addition to an EPD and HPD, we're excited to see Richlite is now Declare 2.0 Certified by the Living Future Institute. Durat who also have a HPD are pledging another year of support for the John Nurminen Foundation by committing 10% of sales of the new nautical colour 730JNS to help protect the Baltic Sea.
