The nursery business turns you into a weather nerd – I’m constantly checking several weather apps on my phone for the latest updates on rain, frost, freezes, heat, etc. depending upon the season.

When I saw the latest change from a low of 14 degrees to 6 degrees on Monday night into Tuesday morning I thought it was a mistake.  After checking other apps I realized either they were all getting their information from the same bad source or it was real.  I then screamed!

Coupled with the snow and wintery mix for possibly 3-4 days this could be some of the worst weather we’ve seen in a long time.

This led me to wonder what the record low was for Longview, so I turned to Google and found an article by the Longview News Journal that reported 4 degrees as a low in 1933 and 1940 and negative 2 degrees in 1951.

The coldest day was on Jan 18, 1930 and was a negative 4 degrees.  However, some “old-timers” remembered a negative 6 degree temp from a blizzard in the late 1800s.  So, I guess it could always be worse…
