These Educators are Making a Difference

We are inspired by the millions of educators we see every day who are persevering and guiding our students through these unpredictable and unprecedented days. As schools across the country prepare to celebrate Public Schools Week 2021, Feb. 22-26, 2021, LFA's Executive Director Richard M. Long is chatting with parents, teachers, specialists, administrators and more about what we've learned about student learning and mental health in a pandemic.

Meet National School Counselor of the Year Olivia Carter, who explains her approach to working with students experiencing trauma; First grade teacher Rosamund Looney in New Orleans, who is forging new paths online; and Charlie Wilson, an Ohio school board member who has specific strategies to bring together parents and community members from a wide variety of backgrounds to shape the community's schools. NEA President and teacher Becky Pringle discusses the most pressing issues related to race, equity, and inclusion, and National PTA President Leslie Boggs weighs in on the impact of the pandemic on families and social-emotional learning. Stay tuned for more podcasts in coming days and weeks.

Teaching About The Capitol Hill Riots and New Presidential Administration

The political events and images of rioters storming the U.S. Capitol reached schools and homes across the nation and beyond. NSPRA and many other LFA member organizations have compiled resources for school leaders, communications professional, teachers, counselors, and other staff, and LFA has brought together those articles and more resources on the presidential transition and how the United States government works.
