Family Update
At the end of December we went to Machu Picchu for the first time. Betsy and I decided that it would be a great family Christmas present instead. We had always thought we would wait until all of the kids were a little older before going but due to the lack of activity in the tourism industry here we were able to go for about one third of the normal price. We had a fantastic time and the kids said it was their favorite thing we have done since living here.
As the new year begins, Ethan finished his school year and is now doing an internship with me. The internship includes some theological reading and writing, time discussing theology, as well as some practical ministry experience.
Betsy continues to homeschool the other children and they are all doing well. She is also leading a Bible/book study with a few other missionary wives here in Cusco which she enjoys very much. With not much available for the family to do on a social level in Cusco due to COVID restrictions Betsy is always great figuring out creative things for us to do.
Peru is closing back up due to the second wave of the pandemic. For example, we now have an 8:00 PM curfew, restaurants are only open for carryout or delivery, and masks along with face shields are now a requirement in stores. Churches are also not open and, in fact, we are coming up on one year since attending church in person. We long to gather in person again and enjoy the fellowship of our brothers and sisters.
