Chad Laston ▪ Project Manager 321.632.7660 ▪ wjconstruction.com 1005 Viera Blvd., Suite 202, Rockledge, FL 32955 CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA SEE MONTHLY PROJECT UPDATES @ cityofcapecanaveral.org/projects/ 02/08/2021 The Project Team and W+J Construction wanted to reach out to the local community to say “Thank You” for allowing us to come into your neighborhood to help build this exciting project for the City of Cape Canaveral. While this project will serve the entire community, we recognize that the impacts of construction will most directly impact those of you living around this project. We recognize that this is your home and we will do our best to treat it with respect and will put forth our best efforts to keep the impacts on the community to a minimum. CONSTRUCTION DURATION: Now through December 2021 CONSTRUCTION HOURS: 7:00 a.m.— 5:00 p.m. Monday — Friday w/ frequent Saturdays INCREASED TRAFFIC: Primary deliveries from A1A, onto Jackson Ave. and into the project site CONSTRUCTION NOISE: Noise and construction unfortunately go hand-in-hand. We will have certain activities at different phases of the project that will make more noise than others. Back-up horns on large equipment during site clearing, roadwork and concrete pours will be the most noticeable noise you will hear. Please understand that these are required by law for the safety of our workers and to help assure that everyone goes home to their families. ROAD CLOSURES: In order to add the much needed additional parking around the perimeter of the City Park and complete the project as quickly as possible (minimizing your impacts), we will be performing periods of road closures and / or single directional travel. This will help facilitate the timely completion of the work and we apologize in advance for any disruptions. PUBLIC SAFETY: For the safety of all residents and our workers, we kindly ask that all residents respect the perimeters of construction site and not venture inside the construction fences or barricades along the roads. This is for your personal safety and it is also the law. Help us keep our workers and all residents safe by keeping clear of the construction area. We will also maintain site video surveillance for security and safety purposes. TRASH AND DEBRIS: W+J Construction and our Subcontractors will do our best to maintain a clean jobsite and clean neighborhood. A clear site is a safe site. A clean site means a clean neighborhood and environment and we understand the im-portance of this to the local community. THANK YOU: Thank you again for the opportunity to build this new facility and park upgrades for your community. We appreciate the trust that the City of Cape Canaveral and its residents have put in W+J Construction to build this project and we are excited to serve your community. COCC Marks 31 Years of "Tree City" Designation
Recently the City of Cape Canaveral received a letter from the Arbor Day Foundation congratulating the City for continuing its designation as a Tree City. Currently, Cape Canaveral is one of only 3,600 communities nationwide to have this honor. The City has proudly held this designation since 1989. Founded in 1972, the Arbor Day Foundation is the largest 501(c)3 nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees and other reforestation efforts. The foundation has more than 1 million partners and supporters that together have helped to plant more than 350 million trees in neighborhoods, communities, cities, and forests throughout not only the U.S. but the world.

To qualify for the Tree City status, communities must meet four core standards. First, someone must be responsible for the care of all trees, this usually includes a professional forester or arborist (the City currently has an on-staff arborist); second, a Tree City must be guided by a tree care ordinance (Article II. - Tree Protection); next, a community must designate a portion of its budget toward planting, care and removal of City trees (Sec. 102-54. - Tree replacement standards); and last, a community must recite an official Arbor Day proclamation and demonstrate support for Arbor Day.

The City takes green infrastructure and its urban canopy very seriously, for trees (and plants) can provide numerous environmental, economic, and social benefits. Such benefits include reducing stormwater runoff into the lagoon, improving air quality, lowering local temperatures, and sequestering carbon dioxide emissions. Recent examples of large-scale tree plantings in the City include the planting of over 350 new native trees at the Long Point Estuary property in 2019, 18 red mangroves along the City’s lagoon shoreline through its Adopt-A-Mangrove Program in 2020, and in 2021 at Canaveral City Park the City will be planting 2,781 new native and Florida friendly trees and plants (95 trees and 2,686 plants) in order to mitigate the loss of 71 existing trees at the site for the Multi-Generational Facility; increasing the park’s species diversity and overall canopy and ground coverage.

The City will apprise residents of new plantings, best management practices, and make available educational resources via our partner organizations as often as possible.
Mayor Bob Hoog P.O. Box 326 Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 Dear Tree City USA Supporter, @Arbor Day Foundation"' On behalf of the Arbor Day Foundation, I write to congratulate Cape Canaveral on earning recognition as a 2020 Tree City USA. Residents of Cape Canaveral should be proud to live in a community that makes the planting and care of trees a priority. Cape Canaveral is one of more than 3,600 Tree City USA communities, with a combined population of 155 million. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. If ever there was a time for trees, now is that time. Communities worldwide are facing issues with air quality, water resources, personal health and well-being, and energy use. Cape Canaveral is stepping up to do its part. As a result of your commitment to effective urban forest management, you are helping to provide a solution to these challenges. We hope you are excited to share this accomplishment. Enclosed in this packet is a press release for your convenience as you prepare to contact local media and the public. State foresters coordinate the presentation of the Tree City USA recognition materials. We will forward information about your awards to your state forester's office to facilitate presentation. It would be especially appropriate to make the Tree City USA award a part of your community's Arbor Day ceremony. Again, we celebrate your commitment to the people and trees of Cape Canaveral and thank you for helping to create a healthier planet for all of us. Best Regards, YR-- Dan Lambe President cc: Tim Davis
