Letter from the Assistant Principal

Dear Dixon family,
Starting this week, we will be doing a second round of I-Ready diagnostic testing with all students. We do this to be able to track students’ growth and assess their individual learning needs through a digital format. This is an amazing learning tool that we have implemented this year that is going to have tremendous impacts on your students’ overall academic growth. The expectation is that students will work on this Wednesday at home when not in live ICP classes. This is the second round, so I am excited to see how our students are learning even in these trying times. I am so proud of how everyone is working, teachers, students, and all staff alike.
If you ever need anything regarding I-Ready or need some help accessing the platform at home, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Best,
Jonathan Leggett

What's Happening at Dixon?

Every year on February 2, France observes La Chandeleur, a.k.a. Candlemas, a.k.a. a day dedicated to eating crêpes. La Chandeleur, tradition evolves into a day revolving around the crêpe—the round shape represents the sun and the circle of life, while the act of eating and sharing with others commemorates a historical tradition of popes giving food out to the poor every year.

Message from the School Nurse

Greetings parents,
As we enter the Mardi Gras break, I wanted to remind everyone to keep doing what you are doing. Wearing masks, hand washing, and socially distancing are so important in these next few weeks. If a child becomes exposed or positive during the break, please email me at kcarbo@isl-edu.org.
I am now able to COVID rapid test students and faculty on campus. We are hoping this will be another way to prevent the spread of this virus. If you have any questions about this please call or email. Our parents and students have been amazing this year. Thank you all for staying in constant communication with me and our teachers.
Thank you again,
Kim Carbo RN

Did you know ISL has 213 employees representing 33 different countries and speaking 23 different languages? Pretty amazing!
Each week, we take the opportunity to feature staff members and thank them for everything they do for our ISL community! Take a moment to read a little more about each of our staff members in this feature on our official ISL Facebook page!
