How to remain standing when false teachers come knocking at your door

The mango tree in the photo won't produce a lot of income this year. It was blown over by a typhoon during the last rainy season.

The farmer had nurtured, watered and fertilized the tree and even wrapped the fruit in paper to keep insects from damaging them. Unfortunately, in spite of the farmer's efforts, the tree fell because its roots are very shallow, making it vulnerable to strong winds.

In the same manner, people who are not deeply rooted in God's Word are easily swayed and deceived when smooth-talking false teachers come knocking on their doors. In fact, these false teachers don’t even have to be physically present! They come into people’s homes effortlessly through the screen of the television set and computer and through books and magazines.

At CCI, we strongly emphasize reading, understanding and applying the Bible to our lives. In fact it is our main textbook. One of the most common testimonies of our students is that they learned to correctly interpret the Bible so that they can discern truth from error. May we all learn to be deeply rooted in the Words of the Almighty God, so that when false teachers come and try to invade our homes, we will not fall for the lies of the enemy.

Testimony

Testimony of Pastor Romy E. Manalili, a graduate from Davao City:

"I thank Him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because He judged me faithful, appointing me to His service."  (1 Timothy 1:12).

When God has called me to serve Him as a Church Pastor, I was fresh from my retirement from employment. And unknowingly, I brought with me the so-called "bossy superiority attitude", being a former company executive.  And sometimes, because of this, I actually experienced some attitude problems with other believers, most especially, with my peers in the Church.

But God loves me so much, that He paved the way for me to go to a Bible School under Crossing Cultures International. Oh, what a turn-around of events! Through the effective leadership and guidance of our instructor, I learned humility from the Bible's Heroes of faith, and from our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. And God slowly but surely stripped off my "bossy" attitude for me to be more effective in serving Him.

Family Update and Prayer Requests
From Henry Ventura - National Director of CCI Philippines
  • We are thankful that the God continues to keep my family safe from Covid-19 and able to work and live for the Lord. Please continue to pray for healing for Cora’s back pain and Melvyn’s asthma.
  • Please continue to pray for wisdom so that I can make the right decisions as I lead the team in the Philippines.
  • Please pray for Pastor Bay Moral who has Stage 3 lung cancer.
  • Please pray for Camp Karis. All events have been cancelled until March and there is inadequate income from the ricefield and the mango trees. We are also repairing and upgrading the facilities especially the water supply for the camp.

Thank you for praying and for giving!
Through your prayers and the help of the Holy Spirit (Phil. 1:19), the CCI ministry is growing and is effectively equipping God’s servants to make a difference in their communities for the glory of God.
