“No matter what type we are, we can observe the following about Inner Work: Remember it is our birthright and our natural state to be self-possessed and enjoy an unshakeable peace of mind”.

                          ~Understanding the Enneagram, 362

Our view of ourselves is based on several factors, sure; it is influenced by our upbringing and further developed by environment: life experiences and relationships. If once aware of one’s beliefs, it is known that there is then the ability to change them. If they are self-deprecating untrue beliefs, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help make this shift. Some beliefs may have a sound basis for the belief but it is still negative and therefore detrimental. These detrimental beliefs keep one stuck in the cycle of poor choices based on one’s beliefs about themselves. One of two things will improve one’s view of themselves. Good choices thus a more positive experience of one’s self needs to be made over time so self-confidence can increase for those with very poor beliefs of themselves such as when there is guilt and shame. For other’s, a saturation of positivity may be enough to influence one’s mentality by shaping their consciousness.

Once we feel better about ourselves, rather that be overcoming deep seeded negative patterns of thoughts that have become beliefs due to the choices those thought patterns lead us to make, or by raising our vibration; we can rise above any and all circumstances by the power of positivity.

Man is not disturbed by things, but by his opinions about things.

                                      ~Greek philosopher Epictetus

An authentic sense of happiness comes with reflection. Self-reflection in of itself bridges the extremes within us. This awareness offers us a power that little else can... the power to heal. When we come to terms with the light and darkness inside us, it becomes integrated and thus we are just who we are - no mask to face the world with in order to hide our anger or grief. Pure acceptance of the whole range of emotions without fear of any, to me, equals the ability of neutrality where it becomes more natural to be less effected or emotionally charged by things. This is to be distinguished from apathy but is easily confused with it. A balanced state of awareness is obtained by practice in the healing arts: yoga, Thai chi, martial arts, etc. Another great way to achieve this balance state of awareness is with biofeedback. Let us know if you would like to combine other techniques with a biofeedback therapy session such as CBT. Come enjoy a peace of mind... book a session now!
