ATLANTA – Work crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation will install overnight lane closures in proximity of the I-75/I-285 interchanges and pace traffic on the I-75/I-285 interchange ramps  in Clayton County this weekend.  This work is in conjunction with construction of the new CD lane system which will be built adjacent to the existing I-75 northbound lanes between SR 331/Forest Parkway and  I-285.

Weather permitting, these are the scheduled lane closures and traffic pacing operations:
  • Two left lanes will be closed on I-75 northbound and southbound between Old Dixie Highway and I-285 on Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 4 from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. the following mornings, and on Sunday, February 7 from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Monday;
  • One right lane will be closed on I-75 northbound between Old Dixie Highway and I-285 on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; and
  • On Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., one ramp lane and shoulder lane will be narrowed from I-285 westbound to I-75 northbound;
  • For safety, police and emergency vehicles will pace traffic to slow speeds through these narrowed lanes on the I-285 westbound and eastbound ramps to I-75 northbound.
Drivers will be alerted of the upcoming traffic impacts by message boards and barricades in advance of approaching the area.  As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
